STATEMENT OF GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE YEAR:
To consider, discuss, and propose/revise, rules and guidelines regarding
ADGA sanctioned shows as well as considering and correcting problems
with Report of Awards and Show Sanctions
.
SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE WORK AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR:
Considered 19 issues/ideas that were brought to the attention of the
committee. All but 1 of these issues were issues/ideas that the
committee felt were best left "as is" or not worthy of being considered
further. That one issue is included below in Decisions Requiring Board
Action.
Considered 2 issues that were brought to us by the New Breeds Task
Force. These are included below in Decisions Requiring Board Action.
We also discussed 6 show sanction/ROA problems that were brought to our
attention for a decision. Five were approved, one was not, as follows:
*Approved sanctioning of the Pennsylvania Farm Show held on January 11,
2004 at Harrisburg, PA and judged by Stephen Richter. The $85 sanction
fee was sent to ADGA on 11/4/03 but no sanction application was
submitted. When the problem was discovered on the day of the show, a
completed ROA and additional late fee were submitted to ADGA.
8 yes to approve, 1 no, 1 no response, 2 undecided
*Approved an error on an ROA from the Southern Vermont DGA junior doe
show hel on June 20, 2004 at Marlboro, VT and judged by Lelia Berry.
The name and information of the Best in Show was left blank. Written
statements were received from the judge and show secretary acknowledging
that the winner was Starlite Caprines Cayenne N1274436 STM/S27 and owned
by Susan Sokol.
11 yes to approve, 0 no
*Approved an error on a ROA from the Central Washington DGA senior doe
show held on June 12, 2004 at Grandview, WA and judged by Rebecca
Glover. The show secretary made an error on the ROA and filled in the
name of the Grand Champon nubian instead of the Best of Breed Nubian.
The owner of both animals was the same, Pete and Debbie Patnode. The
best in show winner was the Best of Breed nubian, GCH Narrow Way DC
Clarice N1036493 SEC/K3. The judge provided written verification of the
correction.
7 yes to approve, 1 no, 3 no response
*Approved an error on a ROA from the Ventura County Fair Combined Jr/Sr
Doe Show held on August 2-3, 2003 at Ventura, CA and judged by Sally
Callahan. All of the numbers were completely left off the Oberhasli
breed section. The numbers were provided by the show secretary and a
written statement from the judge verified the same.
7 yes to approve, 1 no, 3 no response
*Approved an error on a ROA from the Northeast Kansas DGC senior doe
show held on May 23, 2004 at Tonganoxie, KS and judged by Marshall
Binkley. The number of milking classes was left blank on the nubian
section. The show secretary and show chairman both provided written
statements that there were 5 milking classes.
8 yes to approve, 1 no, 2 no response
*Sonoma-Marin Fair Combined Jr/Sr doe show held on June 17, 2004 at
Petaluma, CA and judged by Stephen Considine. The show rules and
sanction application state that AOP and Recorded Grade classes are
sanctioned and the other breeds are "to be determined". On the day of
the show, classes for Alpine, Lamancha and Oberhasli were held. Vote
was taken to approve the post sanctioning of these 3 breeds that were
originally "to be determined":
1 yes to approve, 5 no, 3 undecided/some breeds only, 2 no response.
Vote failed.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Absorbed by the Chair
PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED:
None
DECISIONS REQUIRING BOARD ACTION:
*1- ROA return time: to replace page 72, L, 8 a-e:
a. a phone call reminder from the ADGA office to the judge at 10 days
allowing 5 business days to return the ROA.
b. If not received in the ADGA office after 5 days the sponsoring
organization is to be requested a copy of their copy of the ROA.
c. Judges commitee to be notified of the offending judge.
8 yes to approve, 1 no, 2 no response
The reasoning for this is that all too often judges do not submit the
completed ROA's in a timely fashion which causes ALL succeeding show
results to be held up until the one not submitted is finally received in
the ADGA office, which in turn causes championships to be delayed, etc,
etc. There are several judges who are notorious for not getting the
ROA's submitted in a timely fashion. We felt that we needed to tighten
up the time frame in order to not cause a delay in the processing of
show wins. If a judge is competent enough to accept the judging
assignment, attend the show and then accept a judging fee, then they
should also be responsible enough to get the completed ROA in the mail
in a timely fashion.
*We also considered 2 issues that were brought to our attention by the
New Breeds Task Force;
Supplemental ROA for Sables and Nigerian Dwarves. Since the office has
a 3 year supply of ROA's and the fact that many shows will not yet be
offering classes for these 2 newest breeds we decided that designing a
suppleental ROA that includes just these 2 breeds was appropriate.
10 yes to approve, 1 no response
Check off box for height measurement for Nigerian Dwarves: The
committee felt that this was not needed because if an animal exceeds the
height requirement then it is automatically disqualified and therefore
is not eligible to be shown.
WORK TO BE COMPLETED BY NEXT YEARS COMMITTEE:
Continue discussion on ideas, issues and problems related to ADGA
sanctioned shows, rules, guidelines and ROA's.
Respectfully submitted.
