Specific Requirements for Youth Program

The Youth Program is a vital part of the ADGA Annual Meeting and Convention. Since every organization’s future depends upon attracting young people, the Youth Program is the one time of the year that ADGA can both promote itself to youth and provide them with both educational and entertaining programming.

The Convention Host Committee should work closely from the very beginning with the ADGA Youth Activities Committee Chair. Every attempt should be made to schedule the Youth Program at a time that a majority of youth can attend. Also, activities must be appropriate for the full range of youth ages and interests.

Traditional Activities of the Youth Program

The following activities are those that the Youth Activities Committee usually includes in the program at every Convention. For more specific Information about scheduling and facility requirements for any of these activities, the Convention Host Committee should contact the current ADGA Youth Activities Committee Chair. If a Youth activity requires goats to be brought on-site (showmanship/fitting/ judging clinics, for example) special permits and variances may be required. The same may be true If these activities are held at an off-site facility. The Convention Host Committee must obtain any required permits as soon as their "Proposal to Host" has been accepted by the Board. Also, the local host group will be responsible for providing all goats required for Youth Program events. This should be specified In the Letter of Agreement between the local host group and the ADGA Annual Meeting Committee.
