FARAD LAUNCHES APPEAL FOR EMERGENCY FUNDING

Many of the drugs that goat producers and veterinarians use to treat goats are not licensed or labeled for use in goats, and most of these drugs do not have established withdrawal times to prevent drug residues in meat, milk or milk products from treated goats.

FARAD, the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank, has provided veterinarians and goat producers with science-based drug withdrawals since 1992 and they will have to close soon if they do not receive funding.  Approximately 11% of all phone calls and emails to FARAD are questions concerning drug use and drug withdrawals for goats. FARAD has launched an appeal to those people who use their services to save their organization and they are asking for your donations of any amount.

If this is important to you, please contact your US Representatives and Senators to ask them to fund FARAD now and consider a donation which can be made to:

North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation

(Indicate FARAD in the memo line)

4700 Hillsborough Street

Raleigh, NC 27606

Donations are tax-deductible.
