Dear ADGA Members,
I’m sure you have noticed the changes in the News & Events. The decreased color is an attempt to hold down the cost of the publication. I hope that everyone is still pleased with the content.
There are many deadlines rapidly approaching for ADGA members. If you have not paid your ADGA dues, please remember to do so before March 1st. You must pay by March 1st to be eligible to vote in the Director elections. There will also be some Constitutional changes coming to the membership in the next few months. You will need to have a membership in good standing to vote on those issues, also. The Constitutional changes have already been passed by the Board of Directors and are now going to be submitted to the membership for their vote. The changes are being made due to the recommendations of the ADGA attorney.
The National Show Judges list should be released shortly. The voting has been completed by the membership. Now, the National Show Committee is in the process of selecting the final two judges. I hope many of you plan to attend the show in Indianapolis, Indiana. Please call, e-mail, or write the ADGA office to request a National Show packet.
Many members have been very concerned about the upcoming National Animal Identification System. Most people should have received an application to register for a Premises ID by now. If you have not received an application, please contact your local USDA to receive an application. The Premises ID is still voluntary in most states. There is a link on the ADGA web site to the NAIS. You can go there to receive the latest information. Also, you can get the link to the Goat Working Group of which several ADGA members participate. I’m sure that they are interested in your input into the NAIS.
I hope everyone is having a successful kidding season. As always, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Robin Saum
ADGA President
