ADGA expands Owner Sampler plan for
use in the DHIR program!
ADGA members, with the approval of their local associations, have
been participating in DHIR using Owner Sampler Plan ‘40’ which has had
records included in the STAR volume.
Beginning with 2010 renewals or new applications, this plan can be
expanded to the ADVANCED REGISTRY volume with some additional requirements
required from the users.
Features of the plan still are:
- All DHI management
information
- Herd/Individual Records
- STAR (ST) Volume eligibility*
and now ADVANCED REGISTRY (AR) eligibility**
- Affordability
- Flexibility
- Availability
As with all plans recognized for use in ADGA, there are
requirements for acceptance of owner sampler records into the STAR Volume.
These are:
- Application/fees to ADGA
DHIR
- Herd verification test
between 60 and 150 days in milk
- Minimum data collection
rating of ‘75’
- Owner responsibility to
send in completed lactation record
The additional requirements and benefits for OS - ADVANCED
REGISTRY are:
- Test Type plan correctly
coded as ‘40’
- A minimum of 8 tests and 240 days in milk
- Supervision code of 2
(OS) or 8 (VT) on incoming records (this is supplied by record center
so there is no burden on the owner)
- Documentation of the
owner sampler’s DHI training, on DHIA letterhead or certificate,
signed by DHIA manager on file submitted at time of application.
- Completed lactations will
be electronically reviewed and accepted
- Eligible records will
appear on Performance Pedigrees and be maintained in the ADGA database
All requirements of the ADGA DHIR program will apply to any Owner
Sampler Test Plan, including those set for verification testing.
Owner Sampler records, either OS-ST or OS-AR are not eligible for
Breed Leader (Top Ten) recognition.
*The ST *M will still be available
to those records meeting OS-ST requirements that do meet the DCR and VT but
may not meet the 8 tests, 240 DIM requirement. As ST records, the record data will not
appear on Performance Pedigrees.
** The AR *M will have full recognition in all areas where milk
records are provided, Performance Pedigrees, specialty reports, etc.
