#1 Q: How does a customer order DNA testing for an animal?
#1 A: They will need to send their request by mail, fax, or email with a method of
payment ($30/ sample) and the following information:
For INDIVIDUAL TYPING:
The animals name and registration number;
Type of sample: lab prefers hair, but will accept blood or semen-(an
unspent
straw only).
For PARENTAGE VERIFICATION:
Kid(s) information - If already registered, then the name and
registration
number is sufficient.
If not registered:
Tattoo;
Sex;
Date of birth;
Dam or possible dam's names and registration numbers;
Sire or possible sire' names and registration numbers.
#2 Q: How long does it take to get results?
#2 A: The lab we are currently using can often provide results in two weeks if
the
samples arrive together and in usable condition. Difficult cases may take
longer.
#3 Q: How will I be notified of results?
#3 A: Certificates of analysis will arrive in the mail. If there is additional
testing that needs to be done in order to resolve parentage, you will be
contacted by the Performance Programs Coordinator.
