#1 Q: What Must I Do to Get My Goat Registered/Recorded?

#1 A: An ADGA application for registration/recordation must be completed and submitted to ADGA with the appropriate fee and any necessary documents, such as the service memorandum, artificial insemination memorandum, native on appearance/performance statement, etc. Applications are free of charge and can be obtained from the ADGA office. You can also submit your application online via the ADGA web site http://adga.org/online-reg.html if other documents are not required to be submitted with it. You may also print the application at the above link and mail or fax it to ADGA.   For instructions to register/record your goat, go to http://adga.org/RegistrationApplicationInstructions.htm.

#2 Q: I'm in a Hurry to Get My Applications for Registration/Recordation Processed. What Can Be Done?

#2 A: Applications are processed in the order in which they are received.   RUSH Service is available to those who wish to have their registration/recordation/transfer work moved ahead and processed within 3 days of receipt by the ADGA office.   Every attempt will be made to contact the submitter and resolve any problems with RUSH papers to avoid the return of incomplete work.  You should include several contact methods with your RUSH work to be processed.  You may also request and include fees for the cost of quick return mail delivery.  Please specify your preference of UPS Overnight or UPS Second Day Air.  Your papers can also be returned via FedEx, USPS Express Mail, or USPS Priority Mail.   The RUSH box must be marked on your application and/or Schedule of Rates and the required RUSH fees included. The Rush fee is one-hundred percent of the registration/recordation fee. For rush fees on transfers, click here http://adga.org/sor.htm.

#3 Q: When is a Service Memorandum Required?

#3 A: A Service Memorandum is always required if the dam of the animal for which you are applying was bought as a bred doe.  You must also submit a Service Memorandum with the application for registration/recordation of an animal if the ownership of the sire and dam on the date of service were not the same.  However, a Service Memorandum is not needed if the doe serviced was, on the date of service, owned by one member of a partnership under which the buck was owned.  A Service Memorandum is not required if the owners of the dam and sire on the date of service are linked in the ADGA computer system at the time the application is processed.

#4 Q: How Do I Transfer the Ownership of a Registered/Recorded Animal That I Have Purchased?

#4 A: The bottom portion of the certificate of registry/recordation should be completed and signed. Print your membership name and identification number in the blank reserved for the purchaser.  If you are not a member and would like to join ADGA, click here http://www.adga.org/membership.html for more information.  If you do not have an identification number assigned to you by ADGA for the ownership name you have listed on the certificate, you may leave that space blank.

If you or the person from whom you purchased the animal is an ADGA member and your application for transfer is postmarked within 120 days of the sale date, the cost for transfer is $3.50 ($5.00 if postmarked 121+ days after the sale). If you and the person from whom you purchased the animal are not ADGA members, the cost for the transfer is $15.50.

Mail the complete certificate to ADGA with the appropriate fee. THIS DOCUMENT MAY NOT BE FAXED.

#5 Q: My goat is eligible to be registered/recorded. Can I show it even if I don't have a Certificate of Registry/Recordation yet?

#5 A: You should first ascertain that the officials for your show will accept an officially stamped copy of the ADGA application for registration/recordation if the animal is under six months of age on the base date of the show.  If so, then you can submit an application for registration/recordation to ADGA along with a request for an officially stamped duplicate.  (See "How Can I Obtain an Officially Stamped Duplicate of an Application for Registration/Recordation")

#6 Q: How Can I Obtain an Officially Stamped Duplicate of an Application for Registration/Recordation?

#6 A: This can obtained from the ADGA office only if the animal is under six months of age for which you are applying.  Please note that not all shows will allow you to show on the stamped duplicate.  You should first check with the officials of your show.  A stamped duplicate application can be obtained several different ways:

1. Mail two copies of the application for registration/recordation to ADGA with a self-addressed stamped envelope and request that one copy be officially stamped and returned in the envelope.  There is no charge for this service.  The ADGA office will keep one copy and begin processing the application.  You can also mail your application to ADGA with a request that a duplicate copy of the application with an official stamp on it be faxed to you at a cost of $2.00 per application.

2. Fax the application for registration/recordation to ADGA with a request that an officially stamped copy be faxed back to you and provide the fax number to which the application is to be returned.  The cost is $2.00 per application faxed to you.  It is not necessary that you mail the originals.  ADGA will process the registration/recordation from the application received by fax.  You can also ask that the stamped duplicate application be mailed to you.  A charge of ten cents per copy and the postage will be billed to your ADGA account for this service.

3. Submit the application via the ADGA web site with a request in the comments section that an officially stamped duplicate of the application be either faxed to the number you provide at a cost of $2.00 per application or mailed to you for the cost of ten cents per copy plus postage.
