#1 Q: How does an animal earn the SG award?

#1 A: By being in the top 15% PTI ranking for their breed in either the type or production emphasis at the time of the genetic evaluation release from USDA. They cannot loose the award once it has been achieved if the ranking changes over time.

#2 Q: Can an animal receive this award if they have never been on production

#2 A: Yes, an animal can receive the award from relatives with production records.

#3 Q: Can customers get the registration paper revised to show the SG designation?

#3 A: Yes. If they receive an awards letter they can request a free revised registration certificate within 60 days, otherwise there is a charge for a revision. They can also order a certificate, suitable for framing, for $5 (member rate).
