Technical Support Specialist

Job Description

The American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA), located in Spindale NC is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide assistance with, and maintenance of, all computer systems and hardware. The job duties may include installing, configuring, and updating both hardware and software, as well as resolving Tier 1 helpdesk issues related to information technology (IT) equipment, systems, and software applications. The Technical Support Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Information Systems and Operations Manager (ISOM) providing assistance and support to both ADGA staff and to customers using help desk software and over the phone. Working as a Technical Support Specialist may require work outside of normal business hours in order to meet deadlines. Occasional travel may be required to ADGA National Show and Convention events.


Installing and configuring new technology, such as:

  • Hardware
  • Scanners
  • Printers and Print Servers
  • Monitors
  • Projectors
  • Operating systems
  • Programs or applications
  • Maintaining existing hardware and computer systems
  • Providing assistance to company staff or customers with technology-related issues
  • Researching the root cause of the issue
  • Explaining the problem to the staff member or customer
  • Solving the issue and taking steps to prevent the problem in the future
  • Troubleshooting systems and applications
  • Running diagnostics on malfunctioning hardware or software
  • Finding solutions for any issue
  • Recommending the solution for implementation
  • Replacing damaged or malfunctioning parts on hardware when necessary
  • Implementing and assisting on the roll out of new applications or operating systems
  • Learn the application or operating systems
  • Provide Quality Analysis testing for applications
  • Assist in profile, email, and employee related issues as it pertains to IT
  • Monitoring all systems and necessary updates and patches needed for all IT hardware
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology
  • Outstanding knowledge of computer hardware and systems including but not limited to: Dell, HP, Lenovo, VMWare, Microsoft Windows (Server and Desktop), Active Directory, Azure
  • Active Directory
  • Basic understanding of network topology
  • Basic ability to set up and configure router and wireless access point
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
