ADGA partners with the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory at the University of California, Davis, to provide DNA profiling, parentage verification and available genetic-condition and trait testing for ADGA members.
DNA testing fees and available services are reviewed periodically based on laboratory costs, testing options and the terms of ADGA’s service agreement. Current fees are listed on the Rates and Services page.
Available DNA Services
Depending on the animal’s breed and the purpose of the request, available services may include:
- Individual DNA profiling
- Parentage verification
- Alpha S1 Casein testing
- G-6-S testing
- Scrapie susceptibility testing
- Congenital Myotonia testing
- Other available diagnostic or trait tests
Available tests may change as laboratory services and testing technology are updated.
Requesting DNA Testing
Members who currently own an animal may request DNA testing through ADGA Next Generation.
DNA submission forms, sampling instructions and a mailing label will be sent to the email address associated with the member’s ADGA account after checkout is completed.
Members requesting testing for an unregistered animal or transferring privately ordered results may need to use the appropriate DNA support process.

For help selecting a test, placing an order or transferring an existing DNA result, submit a Support Ticket and select the appropriate DNA category. Include the animal’s registered name, registration number or tattoos, and any available laboratory or case information.
2024 Service Agreement Update
Following a review of proposals from multiple laboratories, ADGA renewed its agreement with the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory for DNA services. Updated pricing under that agreement took effect August 1, 2024.
