As part of our ongoing commitment to improving communication within ADGA, the Executive Committee would like to share an update with the membership.
One of the most frequently asked—and understandably important—topics we hear from members is production awards, including stars, plus, SG, Top 10, etc., and whether these can be prioritized to return us to where we were pre-NG.
Production awards have been a priority for the current Executive Committee, as well as for previous ECs.
While progress in other areas of NG may make it appear that production awards are not being prioritized, that is not the case. Different developers and programmers handle different areas of NG.
Production awards have some of the most complex rules and requirements within ADGA, making the programming and development significantly more challenging than other areas. This complexity is why members have seen progress with show wins, herd book logic, and registration services before production awards.
Once the foundation and framework for production awards are properly completed and thoroughly tested, we will be able to begin introducing historical data, and awards will start rolling out—much like we saw with show awards.
Foundational work for the preliminary 2024 Top Ten is in progress. Many of the complexities delaying production awards are also preventing the Top Ten list from being generated from records accepted into NG. The Performance Programs team is working on vetting this process to ensure all eligible records are included and will send a preliminary list to all 2024 DHIR-enrolled herds once we verify all requirements for records have been met.
With all of that said, we will be seeing production awards issued in 2026, beginning with star and plus awards. While we cannot provide an exact date, we are actively pushing our developers forward while being mindful not to rush the process to ensure that it is done correctly.
