As part of our ongoing data analysis and quality review, the following issues are being resolved and may affect some of your animals:
- Animals Upgraded too soon– Some animals were inadvertently upgraded too soon to the incorrect herd book at the rollout of NG. The process to upgrade an animal involves both a math calculation for the breed percentage, and a breed conformity component. Example: 87.5% Nubian and 12.5% Alpine could mathematically be an American Nubian. When registering this example animal, the conforms to box for Nubian would also have to be selected for at least 3 generations in order for this example animal to qualify for the American Nubian Herdbook. Animals that have been upgraded too soon will be converted to the proper herdbook in NG and a new registration certificate will be issued to any member with an affected animal free of charge.
- Names too long– NG currently allows the registered name of any animal to exceed 30 letters and spaces. The industry partners that utilize ADGA’s animal information to create and publish genetic evaluations and pedigree information max out at 30 spaces for the animal’s name. To be compatible with our industry partners ADGA will truncate names that currently exceed the 30-character limit. Animals presented for registration will no longer be able to exceed 30 letters and spaces. Animals that are affected by the shortened name will receive a new registration certificate free of charge.
